About Me
Born in Lexington, KY, Kimberly Vasileva is a first generation American-Bulgarian artist. Kimberly began her movement journey at United Talent Dance. Dancing became a dedicated pursuit in 2017 when Kimberly joined United Fine Arts Academy, a non-profit youth ballet company under the directorship of Angelica South. At seventeen, Kimberly moved to Winston-Salem, NC, where she obtained a contemporary dance diploma through the University of North Carolina’s School for the Arts High School Program. Under the direction of influential teachers such as Brenda Daniels, Kimberly explored and strengthened new styles including composition and Cunningham Technique. Kimberly began her college education in 2021 at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and will be graduating with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in May 2025. During her time at BOCO, Kimberly has been immersed in Modern techniques (Limón, Graham, Cunningham, Horton), Alexander Technique, Release Technique, Gaga, Improvisation, Ballet, and Jazz through daily classes led by influential teachers like Kurt Douglas, Olivier Besson, Alissa Cardone, Ruth Fentroy, Ana Harmon, and Marissa Parmenter. Explorations within creative process and composition class (led by Brian McGinnis and Diane Arvanites) inspired Kimberly to create three original choreographies in her junior and senior year, including her Boston Conservatory MainStage debut, “XOPO”, a celebration of Romani and Balkan music, culture, and dance. Kimberly has also enjoyed dancing in fellow student works and performance opportunities including choreographies by Laila J. Franklin, Kurt Douglas, José Limón, Julian Barnett, and Danae and Dionysios. Kimberly’s movement practices are inspired by all her training and experiences, such as the Dance Italia Summer Program (2023), Little House Creation Lab (2024/2025), and being in residency with Hope Boykin. All of which facilitated many deep, nuanced findings for Kimberly’s artistry.
Kimberly looks forward to collaborative opportunities and exploring new multidisciplinary arts in her choreographies and creative projects!
